Fashion & Style News: Moschino's Cheap & Chic Accessories Collection

Friday, October 23, 2009

Moschino, the luxury Italian fashion house is debuting a contemporary priced accessories line in Spring 2010 under their Love Moschino label. Alongside designer names such as Betsy Johnson and Jimmy Choo, the lower priced accessory line is for consumers who want luxury accessories without the luxury price tag.
Since its inception in 1983, Moschino has come to be known for its eccentric, colorful designs that reflect a satirical criticism of the fashion industry. While some high-end designers continue to design clothes for their upper class clientele, Moschino views the debut of their lower-priced accessory line as an opportunity to allow frugal fashionistas to own one of their handbags at a more affordable price.

After the successful debut of the Love Moschino ready to wear line in 2008, it has been a goal of Michelle Stein, the president of business group Aeffe USA whom represents Moschino, to offer more affordable goods for their contemporary customers whom comprise 20 percent of the Moschino business in the United States.

When the accessory line debuts in the spring, the collection will feature totes, shoulder bags, wallets, and clutches made out of canvas and leather materials such as calf, nappa and patent leather. The design concept for the collection will stay true to the unconventional Moschino design concept. Fashion enthusiasts describe the line as “whimsical and elegant” with hardware finishes in bright gold and silver that will capture the essence of Moschino. Sure to be a hit with Moschino customers, the collection will retail from $165 to $445.
