Entertainment: The Voices Reloaded: Tamia, Deborah Cox & Kelly Price in the Studio

Friday, November 20, 2009

Just when I thought R&B music was headed for a explosive demise, Deborah Cox, Kelly Price and Tamia come to save the day. The trio are working on a new album aptly titled The Queen Project. All three ladies have had successful solo careers but have nowhere received their just due. In a time where true talent simply seems to not count for much, these three ladies will provide the more tasteful not rump-shaking music listeners with some refreshing tunes.

I'm looking forward to this album because I had the pleasure of interviewing Deborah Cox for Mahogany Butterfly earlier this year and she is truly a class act. Since 1992 she's been on our radar's and took our breath away when she sang the Shep Crawford penned Nobody's Supposed to Be Here. Tamia put moves on our heart when she sang on Quincy Jones' Q's Joint and since then hit us with consecutive classic like Tamia, Nu Day and Between Friends. ot to be outdone, Kelly Price has blessed us with numerous albums including Soul of Woman, This is Who I Am and Priceless.

In the spirit of good music, we'll all be anticipating this release and waiting on a nationwide city tour (no word on that yet but I 'd throw it out there) to see these ladies tear the house down live, no synthesizers needed.
